Weather Forecast: Widespread Rain Expected Across Nepal

Kathmandu. According to the weather forecast of major cities of the country released by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a strong possibility of rain in most cities across the country this afternoon and tonight. 

Today afternoon, Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla and Ghorahi are forecast to experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms. There is a 40 percent chance of rain in these areas. 

Pokhara has the highest probability of rain today afternoon, at 80 percent. While Bhairahawa has a 60 percent chance and Simara has a 40 percent chance of rain, these places will also experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms this afternoon. 

The probability of rain in the federal capital Kathmandu this afternoon is 70 percent. Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, Jiri and Taplejung also have a 70 percent chance of rain this afternoon. Jomsom and Janakpur have a 40 percent chance of rain this afternoon and will also experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms. 

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain unfavorable in most cities. Tonight, Jumla and Jomsom are forecast to experience light rain with thunderstorms, with a 30 percent chance of rain. All other cities are expected to experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms tonight. 

Tonight, Pokhara and Biratnagar have the highest probability of rain at 80 percent. Kathmandu also has a 70 percent chance of rain tonight, while Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Dharan and Taplejung have a 60 percent chance. 

Dadeldhura and Dipayal have a 30 percent chance of rain tonight, while Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Simara, Janakpur and Jiri have a 40 percent chance. Bhairahawa has a 60 percent chance of rain tonight. 

In terms of temperature, Dhangadhi will be the hottest today, with a maximum temperature reaching 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Dipayal will be between 34 to 36 degrees Celsius. Birendranagar, Nepalgunj and Janakpur are estimated to reach temperatures between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius. 

Biratnagar and Simara will have temperatures between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, and Bhairahawa will have temperatures between 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. The temperature will be slightly lower in the hilly and mountainous regions. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu will be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will drop to 20 to 22 degrees Celsius at night. 

Jomsom will have the lowest temperature, with daytime temperatures between 24 to 26 degrees Celsius and nighttime minimum temperatures only 15 to 17 degrees Celsius.
