Residents begin clearing structures on High Court land in Butwal

Butwal. Following a notice issued by the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, locals have begun voluntarily clearing houses and huts built on land owned by the High Court. After an announcement was made via loudspeaker yesterday evening, residents in the Butwal-4 area started moving their belongings late last night.

Since early this morning, some hut owners have been dismantling their structures and relocating. Efforts to clear the settlement built on government land in front of the High Court Tulsipur, Butwal Bench, have intensified. It is reported that there are approximately two dozen houses and huts in the area.

The Sub-Metropolitan City had issued a public notice to remove structures built on approximately 2 bigha, 5 kattha, and 14 dhur of land, falling under former plot no. 396 (currently plot no. 781261134). The land was previously registered under the Lumbini Zonal Commissioner's Office and was later granted to the High Court for usage rights.

According to DSP Nishant Shrivastav of the Area Police Office, Butwal, bulldozers will be deployed once the survey work is completed.
