Information and Communication Minister Dr. Vikram Timilsina States Press Freedom Cannot Be Violated

Kathmandu. Information and Communication Minister Dr. Vikram Timilsina has stated that no one can violate press freedom. Speaking today at a program organized by the Nepal Journalists Federation in Lalitpur on the topic of Press Freedom in Changing Circumstances: Communication Law and Responsible Journalism, he clarified that the government is not moving towards curtailing press freedom. 

He said that the government is fully aware that press freedom is the pillar of democracy. He asserted that if the government has not provided constitutional rights or has obstructed their implementation, there are various constitutional and legal arrangements within the country for that. He stated that the government is ready to discuss with journalists if dialogue is necessary on any matter. 

Minister Timilsina asserted that it is the greatest responsibility of journalists to raise questions if the government becomes irresponsible.
