Lumbini Province Assembly to Discuss Budget Today

Butwal. The Lumbini Province Assembly is convening today (Sunday) to hold a theoretical discussion on the budget presented by the Lumbini Province government for the fiscal year 2083–84. According to the Province Assembly Secretariat, the meeting has been called for 1 PM.

Following dissatisfaction expressed by Province Assembly members over the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure (budget) presented by the government, the discussion on the budget had not been able to proceed regularly. The agenda of the Province Assembly was affected after some MPs from the ruling party expressed dissatisfaction with the distribution of the budget, selection of projects, and allocation of resources.

After internal discussions and agreements in various stages, the theoretical discussion on the budget will be advanced from today's meeting.

According to the probable agenda published by the Province Assembly Secretariat, Province Assembly members will participate in the theoretical discussion on the budget. Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki will answer the questions raised during the discussion.

After that, Minister Karki will present the Appropriation Bill in the Province Assembly.

Similarly, Social Development Minister Janmajaya Timilsina will also present a proposal in the assembly to send the 'Bill Relating to Traditional Practices of the Tharu Community' to the thematic committee, the Province Assembly Secretariat has informed.
