Federal Parliament sessions to conclude tonight

Kathmandu. The current sessions of both houses of the Federal Parliament are set to conclude tonight. Following the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Chait 24, President Paudel has prorogued the sessions effective from 12:00 AM tonight.

The Office of the President issued a statement on Thursday confirming that the decision was made in accordance with Article 93, Clause (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. According to the statement issued by the spokesperson for the Office of the President, Ritesh Kumar Shakya, the President took this action based on the decision and recommendation of the Council of Ministers. 

With this, the current sessions of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will formally conclude. The government recommended this prorogation to end the winter session and prepare for the upcoming budget session.

Under Nepal's constitutional framework, the President is empowered to summon and prorogue parliamentary sessions based on the government's recommendation.
