Students Protest Across India Over Exam Paper Leak, Police Clash

Kathmandu. Student protests continued across India on Saturday against the NIT question paper leak and lathi-charge. In this regard, during the Bihar bandh called, students in 8 districts including Patna and Siwan have pelted stones at the police.

Police Superintendent (SP) Pooran Jha was injured in the stone pelting in Siwan. After the attack, the police fired tear gas shells and about 10 rounds of bullets to control the mob. In Chhapra, students set fire to a police vehicle.

Protesters climbed government buildings, tore down posters, and even took away barricades. Due to the large number of protesters on the road, even the judge's car was stopped.

Former minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who participated in the protest in Patna, has been taken into custody by the police. In Sitamarhi, 12 people, including a female police inspector (SI), were injured in the stone pelting. In Bhagalpur, after the lathi-charge, the police themselves had to flee to save their lives.

Apart from Bihar, protests are happening in many cities of Uttar Pradesh including Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Saharanpur. Protests are ongoing in more than 20 cities of Madhya Pradesh. In Indore, students protesting are being monitored by drones.
