Over NPR 85 Million Tender Called for Mahakali and East-West Highway Upgrades

Kathmandu. A tender worth more than eight and a half crore rupees has been called for the upgrading of the Mahakali and East-West Mahendra Highway and enhancement of road safety. The Road Division Office, Mahendranagar has called for open competitive electronic tenders (e-tenders) for various seven projects.

According to the Road Division Office, Mahendranagar, work is being initiated with an estimated cost of a total of 8 crore 54 lakh 19 thousand rupees for the maintenance, road upgrading, rigid pavement, and construction of road safety infrastructure of various dilapidated sections of the highway falling in the Kanchanpur and Kailali areas.

According to the published tender notice, the road will be upgraded in the Attariya section of the Mahakali Highway (NH-66), from Gopale to Sahajpur, and from Godavari to Phaltude. Among these, the Gopale-Sahajpur section will use 'rigid pavement' technology to make the road sustainable and strong. In addition, road safety related work will be carried out in the 68-kilometer section from Dhangadhi to Phaltude to make the journey easier and safer.

Similarly, road upgrading and safety work will be carried out under the East-West Mahendra Highway (NH-01) from Attariya to the border crossing of Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur. In the Attariya-Gaddachauki section, two separate tenders have been called for road maintenance and safety infrastructure, considering the traffic load and risk of accidents. Furthermore, the work of supplying necessary construction materials for the Road Division Office will also be carried out through the same tender.

The office has urged eligible and interested construction entrepreneurs to submit tenders only through the electronic system via the official website of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO).
