Seven of a family killed in roof collapse in eastern Afghanistan

Afghanistan. Seven members of the same family were killed in a roof collapse in Nangarhar province of eastern Afghanistan, local officials said on Wednesday. According to the provincial director of information and culture, Quraishi Badloon, the victims died on the spot when the incident occurred in Sherzad district on Tuesday night.

Earlier, five people were killed and four others were injured when a mud-brick roof collapsed due to heavy rain on Monday night. It has been reported that the death toll from disaster-related incidents has increased in Afghanistan recently.

Similarly, at least 132 people have died and 192 have been injured in the country in the last 12 days due to heavy rain, landslides, storms, and lightning. Residential houses in remote and rural areas of Afghanistan are mainly built of mud, and these houses are at high risk during severe weather events.
