Trump Signs Executive Order to Strengthen US Defense Supply Chain

Washington DC. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday. The purpose of this order is to further strengthen America's defense supply chain and secure the supply of essential materials and equipment used in the defense sector and their parts.

According to the White House, the order encourages defense companies to initiate the process of approving new domestic sources of critical minerals, materials, and parts required for special procurement programs related to national security. For this, resources from America and its allied countries will be used. Also, provisions have been made to remove regulatory obstacles in this process.

According to the details released by the White House, this order limits the ability of the Defense Minister to grant exemptions for critical materials coming from certain countries. Additionally, in some cases, plans will have to be prepared to bring back supply chains located abroad to America. According to the White House, despite long-standing restrictions on some countries for the supply of sensitive materials, sufficient attention had not been paid in the past to strengthening the supply chain and expanding domestic production.

The White House has pointed out the need for America to secure its defense capabilities from physical attacks, cyber attacks, and economic blockades amidst increasing global power competition. Its objective was to maintain the American defense industry as a reliable supplier for the defense needs of America and its allied nations.
