Communist Party Youth Demand 60% Representation in Committees

Kathmandu. Youth members of the Communist Party of Nepal have submitted a memorandum to coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', demanding a 60 percent representation in every party committee. The youth submitted the memorandum to Prachanda at the central office in Parisdanda on Monday.

They also expressed dissatisfaction over the neglect of youth in both direct and proportional closed lists during the elections, in line with the spirit of the Gen-Z movement.

'Despite the issuance of a circular recommending Gen-Z candidates for all 165 constituencies nationwide during the House of Representatives election, the failure to nominate even a single Gen-Z candidate is a sad and concerning matter. Similarly, the exclusion of any youth under 40 from the proportional closed list is a clear sign of the party's insensitivity toward the youth. It is as clear as daylight that our party participated in the election despite such ironic circumstances,' the memorandum stated.

The four-point memorandum demands that 60 percent youth representation be ensured in all party committees, that the party publicly acknowledge the failure to include youth under 40 in direct and proportional electoral systems, that the statute amended to suit the interests of a few leaders be revised, and that the assets of all party officials be made public immediately.

Leader Bhuwan Singh Bista stated that if these demands are ignored, they will be forced to announce nationwide protest programs, and the party leadership will bear full responsibility for the resulting situation. Bista is a former central member of the All Nepal National Independent Students' Union (Revolutionary). He claimed that the memorandum bears the signatures of approximately 50 individuals.
