Kathmandu Metropolitan City Begins Construction of Tudikhel Grassland

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated the construction of a grassland in the southern part of Tudikhel (the lawn south of the Army Pavilion). The Metropolitan's Department of Public Works issued a notice stating that construction work began on Chait 8.

The grassland is being developed under the approved budget and program of the Metropolitan City for the fiscal year 2082/83.

The Metropolitan City has signed a contract with New Benjamin Susman (R.K. JV) for 24,251,131 rupees, including VAT, with the work scheduled to be completed within one year. Currently, work is underway to remove soil that was placed during the construction of the Dharahara and to drill boreholes at the four corners.

The Metropolitan City has stated that once construction begins, various festivals, sports activities, assemblies, and other public events held in the area will be disrupted. Photo: Nepal Photo Library
