Nepali Communist Party Candidate Arrested in Parsa Over Explosive Device Found in Vehicle

Birgunj. Manoj Chaudhary, a candidate for the Nepali Communist Party from Parsa Constituency 2, has been arrested. The District Police Office, Parsa, stated that he was apprehended from Bardanihar in Parsagadhi Municipality, Parsa.

Parsa Police Chief Sudipraj Pathak stated that Chaudhary, a candidate for the House of Representatives, was taken into custody after a bomb was discovered in the vehicle he was traveling in. He was publicly presented at a press conference held at the District Police Office on Wednesday morning. During the press conference, Police Chief Pathak mentioned that a pipe bomb was found in the vehicle Chaudhary was traveling in late at night.

"A suspicious object, a bomb, was found in the vehicle Chaudhary was traveling in, and we have already had it disposed of by the army this morning," he said. Parsa Police reported that three other individuals traveling in the vehicle with candidate Chaudhary were also taken into custody.

However, the police informed that further details about them are being kept confidential as the investigation is ongoing. The vehicle bearing license plate Ba 10 Cha 1250, in which candidate Chaudhary was traveling, has also been impounded.

Parsa Police stated that Chaudhary is being investigated under three charges according to the Election Act 2073, the Muluki Criminal Code: offenses related to explosive materials, and offenses against public peace."
