England Defeats Sri Lanka in Low-Scoring Thriller, Completing 3-0 T20I Series Sweep

Pallekele. England defeated Sri Lanka by 12 runs in the third T20I match played in Pallekele, securing the three-match series 3-0. While successfully defending a meager score of just 129 runs, England also set a new record for the lowest score defended in T20 International history.

England, who chose to bat after winning the toss, had a very poor start. The team lost six crucial wickets with only 60 runs on the board after 11 overs. 

At a critical juncture, Sam Curran played a responsible innings of 58 runs off 48 balls. Curran, who hit 6 fours and 1 six, was supported by Liam Dawson who scored 14 runs. 

Although Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera bowled a lethal spell, taking 5 wickets for 24 runs, Curran's fighting innings made a big difference in the result of the match.

Chasing a modest target of 130, Sri Lanka had a good start, but their batters could not withstand the spinners in the middle overs. Adil Rashid, Will Jacks, and Jacob Bethell bowled tightly, bringing the Sri Lankan run rate to a halt. 

After losing 4 wickets for 62 runs in 10 overs, Sri Lanka came under pressure and the game fell into England's grasp. After continuous wickets fell in the final overs, the entire Sri Lankan team was bundled out for 116 runs.  England's Jacob Bethell took 4 wickets and Will Jacks took 3 wickets.
