Gagan Thapa States BP Koirala's Concept of Nationalizing Natural Resources

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that the concept of conserving and nationalizing natural resources including forests and land was BP Koirala's. Speaking at a program to distribute prizes to the winners of the 'Green Run' organized by the party on the occasion of BP Koirala's memorial day, President Thapa said that the Green Run competition was organized not only to raise awareness about climate change but also to make a resolution.

"We are standing here today not only to raise awareness about climate change but also to make a resolution. We have prepared a comprehensive program for this," said President Thapa.

Congress Announces Welfare Fund

Thapa recalled that BP Koirala had introduced the concept of conserving and nationalizing natural resources like forests and land at that time. He said that the Congress has once again resolved to uphold the concept of sustainability of development and the vision of justice towards natural resources, which was put forth by the people's leader BP Koirala.

"Congress founder leader Koirala also taught us by implementing the concept of inclusivity in practice seven decades ago, and we are fully committed to that as well," said President Thapa.

A drawing competition on climate change was also organized on the occasion.

Saplings of various species were also distributed to the participants in all programs. The Congress has stated that the sapling distribution program will continue from the party's central office in Sanepa."
