Record-breaking mountaineer Sherpa welcomed at TIA (photos)

Kathmandu, January 3 — Record-breaking mountaineer Mingma Gyalje Sherpa has been warmly welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Sherpa has set a historic record by becoming the first Nepali to summit all eight-thousand-meter peaks in the world without the aid of oxygen.

In addition, he has climbed the highest peaks of all seven continents. Various organizations and associations greeted him at the airport with music, garlands and khada (traditional Nepali scarf that is wrapped around the neck.)
