NEA ensures uninterrupted power supply for Kathmandu-Terai Fast Track project

Kathmandu, December 31 — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced that it will provide electricity through an alternative arrangement for the construction of the Kathmandu-Terai/Madhes Fast Track road in the areas of Mandu Maltabesi in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 and Sisneri Kogate in Indrasarowar Rural Municipality-3, located in Makwanpur.
To prevent any disruption in the construction of the Fast Track due to electricity shortages, the NEA has initiated work on an alternative supply system to ensure timely electricity delivery. There is no electricity shortage affecting the residents of these areas.
For the construction of structures such as bridges, galleries, and tunnels in the Mandu Maltabesi and Sisneri Kogate sections of the fast track, the NEA has arranged for an alternative electricity supply to avoid any impact on construction.
The fast track project in these areas will require approximately 12 megawatts of electricity, with construction ongoing in four packages.
Under the alternative electricity supply arrangement, the existing 66 kV line from the Kulekhani I Hydroelectric Plant to Mandu will be upgraded to 11 kV for use.
A 22.5 MVA power transformer, which is currently in storage in Kathmandu, will be relocated to the Dhorsingh Substation and connected to provide the necessary electricity for the Fast Track project.
