Dr. Govinda KC Begins 24th Hunger Strike in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi. Activist Dr. Govinda KC, who has been raising his voice on issues of medical education, health services, and good governance for a long time, will begin his 24th Satyagraha in Dhangadhi, Kailali on Thursday. He has scheduled to begin his indefinite hunger strike from 3 PM at the Krishna Temple's धर्मशाला in Dhangadhi.

Dr. KC has accused the government of not implementing past agreements and ignoring the demands raised repeatedly. He stated that he was forced to go on Satyagraha again after the government sought time until July 21st to address the demands, but no concrete action was taken.

Dr. Amrit Jeshi informed that Dr. KC concluded that there was no alternative to protest after the government did not take any positive steps within the stipulated deadline. Dr. KC had reached Sudurpaschim last Friday. During this period, he visited various districts including Kanchanpur and Kailali.

Through a press release made public on Wednesday, Dr. KC stated that the government must take responsibility for any situation that may arise due to its lack of seriousness towards his demands. He mentioned that he has been continuously struggling for the citizen's right to health, quality medical education, and good governance, and has had to choose the path of Satyagraha again.

This time, he has made the appointment process and policy decisions in the medical education sector the main issues of his protest. His demands include the cancellation of appointments allegedly made against laws and standards at Dashrath Chand Health Sciences University and the Medical Education Commission, amendment of controversial provisions in the relevant act, and an end to political influence and conflict of interest in appointments.
