KP Sharma Oli: Communist and Democratic Cooperation is Basis for Change

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the cooperation of communist and democratic forces is the basis for change. 

Chairman Oli said this while issuing a video message on the death anniversary of prominent figures of Nepal's leftist and democratic movements, Pushpalal Shrestha and Bishweshwar Prasad (BP) Koirala. 

In the process, Chairman Oli recalled the invaluable contribution of both leaders to Nepal's social and political change. 

Chairman Oli portrayed Pushpalal Shrestha not only as the founding general secretary of the Communist Party but also as a new interpreter of history and a sharp analyst of political literature. 

Stating that Pushpalal worked to connect the political movement with the daily lives of the people, especially the problems of the workers and farmers, Oli recalled that martyr Ganga Lal Shrestha's brother Pushpalal struggled for change throughout his life based on the inspiration received from his elder brother. 

Similarly, Oli has remembered BP Koirala as a multifaceted personality and a towering figure of Nepali politics. Honoring the contributions made by both Pushpalal and BP Koirala to the transformation of the country from their respective positions, he emphasized the need to learn from their good deeds and move forward. 

Oli said that although Pushpalal's policy of uniting democratic and progressive forces against the autocratic Panchayat system and monarchy at that time was not accepted initially, it later became the main basis for change in 2046 BS. 

'Although the movement is currently feeling some setbacks, inspiration from the long-term thinking, foresight, and determination of the senior leaders can help the movement move forward powerfully again', Oli said, 'The imprisonment of BP Koirala and the exile of Pushpalal will always provide energy and inspiration to Nepali politics.'
