John Abraham urges Tourism Minister Pandey to halt Chitwan Elephant Festival
Kathmandu, December 22 — Bollywood actor John Abraham has sent a letter to the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey.
In his letter, actor John has requested the Minister to stop the upcoming Elephant Festival in Chitwan, scheduled for January.
The actor has expressed his objection to the treatment of elephants under the guise of tourism promotion. He urged Minister Pandey to halt the Elephant Festival.
Notably, John Abraham is known for his love for animals.
In his letter, he wrote, "The treatment of elephants in the name of competitions and games during the festival is insensitive. Therefore, the use of elephants in such events must be stopped."
John also mentioned that using elephants in games like polo and football negatively affects their physical condition.
He has also called for an end to the tradition of using elephants for jungle safaris, where tourists are carried on the animals through the jungle.
