UN Secretary-General: West Asia Conflict Escalating Beyond Imagination

Kathmandu. West Asia's ongoing conflict has pushed the region to the 'beyond imagination', United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Thursday.

"The situation is going out of control. It is faltering on the 'unimaginable edge'. The region is being dragged into a circle of continuously widening conflict. One crisis is fueling another. One growth is leading to another growth," Guterres said at a Security Council meeting.

He said, "As this dynamic spreads, political objectives are becoming more overshadowed by conflict."

This statement by UN Secretary-General Guterres came on the same day that the United States and Saudi Arabia announced a historic agreement to establish a non-military nuclear program in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. However, US President Donald Trump said that this agreement would only be implemented if Riyadh normalized relations with Israel.
