Vice President's wife, Champadevi, his support

"Through politics, everyone earned money, while he earned fame"

BARA: Champadevi Yadav is the wife of the newly elected Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav. She has a small thatched house near Gaucharan in Bayalbazar, Kalaiya Sub Metropolitan-5, where she has been living alone. Two sons and one daughter live in Kathmandu for study, while her husband Ramsahaya Yadav is also mostly away from home. Since waking up at 3 in the morning, Champadevi does not get a single moment of free time aside from household chores and farming.

Yadav, who taught Science at the local Pannalal Kanyadevi School for 18 years, became politically active after the 2062/063 movement. After Yadav became active in politics, Champadevi has been managing the household, animals, and farming alone.

"He got involved in politics while he was teaching. It has been many years that I have been handling everything from raising children to their education, household work, and farming," said Champadevi, "many people earned money by doing politics, he earned a name. And I am very happy about that."

She says that for Ram Sahaya to remain active in politics, she took care of the children and the household. "No matter what hardships he (Ram Sahaya) has suffered, he has got the fruits of his hard work. We are happy about that," she said.

She said that even if her husband is elected vice president, he should return to the village after 5 years and not leave home. "He and his children told me to go to Kathmandu, but when I leave home, all the order here will deteriorate, people will starve, farming will deteriorate," she said.

Earlier, when Ram Sahaya Yadav was the Forest Minister, Champadevi never entered the ministry or even the minister's residence. Champadevi suffered when she had to sell a buffalo bought for one lakh rupees for 60,000 rupees in the elections held on November 20, 2022.

Ram Sahaya Yadav is considered a confidant of Upendra Yadav, the central Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal. He was the former general secretary of the party, central member, executive member, federal member of Parliament of Bara Constituency No. 2, and the leader of the parliamentary party of the party as well. The main character behind all these successes is Champadevi, who created an opportunity for him to devote himself entirely to politics by taking over the entire responsibility of household affairs.
