Senior Most Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla Returns to Bench After 20-Day Leave

Kathmandu. Senior most justice of the Supreme Court Sapana Pradhan Malla has returned to the bench after a 20-day leave. Before Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma assumed office as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Jestha 5, Malla had taken leave by approving her own leave in the capacity of acting Chief Justice. 

Various cases have been scheduled in her single and joint benches. 7 cases have been scheduled in her bench, while 166 cases have been scheduled in the joint bench with Justice Meghraj Pokharel.

Malla was dissatisfied after the Constitutional Council recommended Sharma, who was in the fourth position, for the post of Chief Justice, bypassing Malla, who was in the first order of seniority in the Supreme Court, Justice Kumar Regmi in the second, and Hari Prasad Phuyal in the third.
