Janamat Party Protests for Local Level Rights and Autonomy

Kathmandu. Janamat Party has protested in Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu, demanding the implementation of local level rights and autonomy. 

In the protest attended by the party's leaders, cadres, and supporters, placards with slogans such as 'Congress-Communist Cheated', 'Balen, Don't Cheat', 'Fulfill Your Promise to Grant Autonomy', and 'Give Rights to Local Government' were displayed.

The protesters demanded that the rights given to the local level by the constitution be fully implemented in accordance with the spirit of the federal democratic republic, that local governments be ensured necessary resources and decision-making authority, and that public commitments be fulfilled. They accused various political parties of not fulfilling their commitments made during elections and stated that the government must be serious about strengthening local autonomy and a people-oriented governance system.

During the protest organized in Maitighar Mandala, participants peacefully chanted slogans and drew the government's attention to not curtail local level rights and to effectively implement federalism.

Janamat Party has also warned of announcing further protest programs if the concerned bodies do not pay attention to its demand to make local governments more empowered by making the federal structure more effective.
