Bagmati Province Ministers Assigned Portfolios

Hetauda. The portfolios of the ministers of Bagmati Province have been divided. The Chief of Province Deepak Prasad Devkota has divided the work in the existing Council of Ministers at the recommendation of Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniyan.

At the recommendation of Chief Minister Baniyan, Province Chief Devkota divided the work of the ministers on Thursday in accordance with Article 168 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal. According to the press release issued by the Office of the Province Chief, responsibilities have been distributed among the 8-member Council of Ministers including Chief Minister Baniyan.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Baniyan, Shivraj Adhikari has been given the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Law and Cooperatives, Urmila Nepal has been given the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forest and Environment, Kanchanchandra Bade has been given the Ministry of Health and Social Development, and Prabhat Tamang has been given the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning. Suresh Shrestha has been given the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Labor and Transport, Krishnakumar Tamang has been given the Ministry of Water Supply, Energy and Irrigation, and Binu Rayamajhi Poudel has been given the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development.

With the division of work implemented from Thursday, August 7, Bagmati has ministers in 8 ministries and the provincial government has been completed.

The Council of Ministers meeting on May 22 had reduced the 14 ministries to 8 ministries in the province. Although the decision was implemented from August 1, 6 ministers remained without portfolios due to the ruling coalition. Among them, 3 ministers from UML and 3 ministers from Congress were without portfolios, while the government had 3 ministers from UML and 5 ministers including Chief Minister Baniyan from Congress.

In this situation, only on Wednesday, UML withdrew its support to the government and made its 6 ministers resign collectively. Madhusudan Poudel, Dr. Dineshchandra Devkota, Bindu Shrestha, Kiran Thapamagar, Jayaram Thapa, and Bharat Bahadur KC resigned from their ministerial posts from UML.

Chief Minister Baniyan has assigned the responsibilities of the 3 vacant ministries to Congress ministers after the 6 ministers from UML resigned. Congress ministers Nepal, Shrestha, and Poudel were previously without portfolios. The ministries they have been assigned were previously held by UML ministers.
