FNJ flays newspaper torching incident

 

Dhangadhi – An unidentified group this morning torched copies of the Kantipur National vernacular daily, The Kathmandu Post English daily and Nagarik vernacular daily brought for distribution in Attariya bazaar of Kailali district. 


A group of four to five unidentified people took out the stacks of the newspapers from the jeep which had reached the sales depot at Attariya bazaar and set them on fire. The newspapers were brought from Nepalgunj. 


The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kailali branch issued a statement condemning the incident and seeking stern action against the people involved in the incident of arson. It termed the incident as an attack on press freedom.
