Five Central Members, 33 Leaders Resign from Biplav-led Party in Rupandehi

Butwal. Five central members from Rupandehi of the party led by General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), along with 33 leaders-workers, have announced their release from all party responsibilities. They announced their resignation from all party responsibilities and the responsibilities given by the party through a joint declaration issued on Friday. The declaration stated that they were compelled to relinquish their responsibilities due to the inability to achieve expected results despite long political struggle, sacrifice, and contribution, the division and weakening of the communist movement, and the party leadership's failure to provide a correct political direction. They alleged that the goal of socialism is weakening, national independence is in crisis, and the communist movement has reached a state of fragmentation, and despite the need for transformation, unity, reorganization, and strengthening of the movement, the leadership has not taken initiatives in that regard. Central members Sharad Oli, Jay Poudel, Vishnu Tiwari, Shankar Gyawali, and Madan Tharu are among those leaving the party. Additionally, 33 people, including district secretariat members, district members, and various office-bearers at the municipal level, have jointly signed the declaration. Central member Sharad Oli alleged that the tendency to take action against leaders expressing different opinions within the party, strip them of responsibilities, and render them inactive is increasing. He cited the action against Uma Bhujel and the stripping of Basanta Shrestha's responsibilities as examples, stating that such steps were taken solely for expressing different views, he told Ratopati. Oli clarified that although they have left the party, they have not separated from the communist movement and will engage in reorganizing the party in a new way and in ideological campaigns. The declaration also expressed a commitment to remain active in the future for the unity, reorganization of the communist movement, and the creation of an alternative political current.
