COVID-19 vaccination drive Kathmandu put off citing vaccine shortage

KATHMANDU, July 16: The ongoing vaccination drive in Kathmandu district has been postponed as the stock of the vaccines ran out. 

The drive, which kicked off on Tuesday and was scheduled to continue until Saturday, has been postponed owing to the shortage of Vero Cell vaccine, according to the District Health Office, Kathmandu. 

Public health administrator Badri Bahadur Khadka said that the campaign has been postponed until further notice. 

A ministerial level meeting decided to vaccinate all the  citizens aged 55 and 55 with China-made Vero Cell vaccine across the country. Similarly, university professors, school and college teachers and staff, drivers and helpers of public vehicles, people being involved in emergency services and those going to foreign countries [where vaccine is mandatory] are scheduled to inoculated with the Vero Cell vaccine.
