COVID-19: Vaccination drive to resume countrywide from today

KATHMANDU, July 13: The government is set to resume the vaccination drive in all 77 districts across the country from Tuesday. 

The vaccines—Vero Cell procured from China and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) donated by the United States  -- would be administered in all 77 districts from Tuesday, said Director General of the Department of Health Service under the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Dipendra Raman Singh.

The Department has also classified the groups to be inoculated with the Vero Cell and Johnson & Johnson vaccine. 

Vero Cell vaccine would be administered to all citizens from 55 years and above, who missed their first dose. The list includes university professors, teachers and staff of schools and colleges, drivers and helping staff of public vehicles and those who are involved in emergency services. Similarly,  Nepalis going to the countries where vaccines have been made mandatory will also be administered vaccines. 

Likewise, all citizens, aged between 50 and 54, citizens with disability and refugees, health professionals and sanitation staff would be vaccinated with J&J vaccine which works on a single shot. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP),  2.61 million people have so far received the first shot of the vaccine while 1.07 million others have received both the jabs.
