Nepal's COVID-19 case tally surpasses a grim 400,000-mark

KATHMANDU, May 11: The coronavirus disease, with its new variant, has been ravaging Nepal at its worst. With the second wave engulfing the country, more than 800 death cases have been reported since April 1. 

Highest single-day death count was reported on May 10. According to the Health Ministry, as many as 139 deaths were added on Monday alone taking the fatality tally to 3,859. 

Country records 9,271 new cases

The country recorded a total of 9,271 new cases of COVID-19 across the country on Monday. The new records were revealed from a total of 17,623 RT-PCR tests and 788 antigen tests. With this, the number of the infected individuals to date reached 403,794. 

The Ministry stated that Kathmandu district recorded 2,775 new cases, 327 in Bhaktapur and 505 in Lalitpur district. 

Similarly, altogether 4,007 got recovered in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. Presently, the number of active cases is counted at 93,141 while 306,794 have gained recovery.
