3,300 kms roads to be repaired

Kathmandu - The Department of Roads is to carry out works related to periodic maintenance on 3,300 kms road of main highway across the nation. The roads are going to be repaired with financial support of the World Bank. According to the Department, an agreement has been signed to complete the repair and maintenance works within next five years.

Deputy Director General of the Department, Bhimarjun Adhikari said that the roads where there is high vehicular movement would be repaired. He further said that the roads constructed few years ago and needed to be repaired would be selected for the same rather than the roads to be reinstated after complete damage.

The roads are to be repaired in a different way as compared to the repair and maintenance work being carried out by Road Board Nepal annually. Generally, roads should be repaired within five-six years of the construction. The roads are going to be repaired as many roads are not repaired since several years. The roads going to be repaired are Muglin-Nagdhunga, Kamala-Dhalkebar, among others. The roads should be repaired within 2082. Around Rs 8 billion would be invested for the same.
