Quarantine facility in Kathmandu lacks basic facilities

Kathmandu - A quarantine facility at Jaharsinghpauwa in Shankharapur municipality in Kathmandu is devoid of basic facilities like electricity and decent accommodation, the facility users complained.

"There is no electricity for the past three days and we are finding it difficult to sleep for want of mosquito nets," said Ramesh Adhikari, who has been staying at the facility, adding that no health workers visited the facility to conduct health check-ups.

The facility accommodates 10 people suspected of COVID-19 including five who have returned home from foreign countries and five from outside the Kathmandu Valley. They were yet to get health tests since they returned home from foreign countries, they complained. They demanded PCR tests for them. They are so desperate that they have also asked the municipality to manage PCR tests for themselves at their own expense.
