Cooperative Day: Minister Aryal calls for leaveraging national aspiration

Kathmandu - Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, has said the cooperative movement would help meet the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'. Minister Aryal said this in a message of best wishes that she gave on the occasion of the 63rd National Cooperative Day, today. She stated that the cooperative movement would be successful with the support and conscientiousness of all the cooperative institutions, people working in the cooperatives sector, the cooperatives movement stakeholders and the civil servants.

The Cooperatives Minister expressed the belief that the cooperative movement would also help improve the economic, social and cultural status of the nation and all members by integrating the scattered capital, technology and talent through the spirit of self-sufficiency and cooperation. Describing the cooperative as a campaign mobilised for prosperity by the poor themselves for economic and social awareness, the Minister stated that the constitution has accepted the cooperative sector as an important pillar of the national economy and a key instrument for poverty alleviation and building a self-sufficient, sustainable and socialism-oriented economy. The National Cooperative Day commemorates the day when 'Bakhan' the first cooperative of the country, was established in Chitwan.
