Govt takes stock of Nepalis in COVID-19-hit countries

Kathmandu - The government of Nepal has inquired about the state of Nepalis in the major labour destinations that are hit hardest by COVID-19 infection. Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Ray Yadav and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali conducted a video conference with the Nepalis ambassadors in five countries-Malaysia, Israel, Japan, South Korea and South Africa- today to ask about the situation facing the Nepali migrant workers in those countries. The Ministers duo had instructed the Nepalis ambassadors in those countries to put in place accommodation and food for the Nepali migrant workers if they were out of job, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. Earlier on Monday, the government had taken stock of the Nepalis in those countries through the chief of the Nepali diplomatic missions there. COVID-19 infection has been detected countries like Malaysia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates , Bahrain, South Korea, Oman among others countries where many Nepalis are working.
