Five injured in bomb explosion in Kailali

Kailali–Five people were injured in the explosion of an improvised explosive device in a local hotel at Chatakpur of Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City in Kailali district on Thursday evening, said the police.

The IED was detonated by a person who was seeping tea at that hotel (Nilam Hotel) at that time according to the police preliminary investigation, said Dakshya Kumar Basnet, spokesperson for the district police office, Kailali, adding that the IED might have been packed in a lunchbox.

The explosion took place at around 6:45 pm. The injured identified as Keshab Raj Pandey, the hotel owner, Ram Singh of Bajhang district, Laxman Serela, Mobin Khan and Jitendra Yadav were rushed to Metro Hospital, and out of them, Pandey and Ram Singh are reported to be in serious condition, said Basnet.

A Chinese pistol was also recovered from the incident site, and further investigations were on, said Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa.
