Cooperative Victims Protest in Kathmandu Demanding Fair Savings Return

Kathmandu. Cooperative victims have protested in Kathmandu, alleging that they are being given more pain in the name of mediation.

They protested at Maitighar in Kathmandu on Tuesday, stating that they are in more pain due to pressure from various bodies to reconcile with cooperative institutions, especially large depositors. Their demand is for respectful and equal treatment of small and large depositors.

The participants in the protest, led by the National Campaign for the Protection of Cooperative Depositors, urged for efforts to return their savings as soon as possible.

They have demanded that all depositors, regardless of whether they are small or large, should be repaid equally, and that the amount should be provided by recovering it from debtors.

Kushalbh KC, chairman of the National Campaign for the Protection of Cooperative Depositors, said that although small depositors have been given some amount back, the government has not shown interest in the problems of the real cooperative victims.

He stated that the state should be serious because some cooperatives that have not been declared problematic have also embezzled billions of rupees from depositors.
