Teacher Found Dead in School Dormitory in Jhapa

Jhapa. The body of a female teacher has been found in the residential building of Arunodaya English Boarding School in Kakarbhitta, Mechinagar Municipality-6. Police have stated that 29-year-old Kabitakumari Dhungana from Lalbandi-2, Sarlahi, was found dead.

She was living in the residential room within the school premises with her husband, 30-year-old Ratan Gupta. Gupta is a resident of Birgunj-16, Parsa, and both husband and wife had been teaching at the same school since last Baishakh.

Ranjan Awale, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Jhapa, informed that an investigation into the incident is underway. According to the school's principal, Durgabahadur Luintel, the school had been on holiday since July 5th, and when the school was to reopen on Monday, both teachers were found to be out of contact. The room where they lived was locked from the outside, and phone contact was not possible.

"After not being in contact all day, around 4:30 PM, Ratan Gupta himself sent me a message on WhatsApp. The message stated that his wife was found hanging inside the room, that he had moved her to another room, and that he had left due to fear, requesting that the lock be opened and legal procedures be completed," said Principal Luintel.

According to locals, Gupta was seen leaving the school around 5:00 PM on Sunday evening carrying two bags. He has not been in contact since then. DSP Awale, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Jhapa, stated, "Upon receiving information about a woman's body found inside the school premises, a police team reached the scene. Preliminary investigation has begun. The cause of death has not been confirmed, and an investigation is being carried out from all angles, including a post-mortem examination of the body. The search for her husband, who is out of contact, is also ongoing."
