Opposition Leader Angdembe Holds Government Responsible for Devanaganj Incident

Kathmandu. Chief opposition party Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has said the government should take responsibility for the incident in Devanaganj Municipality-3, Captainganj, Sunsari. Stating that the inability to maintain peace and security is a weakness of the Home Ministry, he said the Home Minister should answer about the incident.

Expressing his views on social media on Monday, Angdembe expressed sorrow over the incident in which two people died and dozens were injured. Extending condolences to the deceased, sympathy to the bereaved families, and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, he demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and action against the culprits.

Angdembe accused the government of failing to fulfill its constitutional obligations. He stated that the inability to maintain peace and security is a weakness of the Home Ministry. He said, 'The Home Minister must answer for this incident. The inability to maintain peace and order is a weakness of the Home Ministry, and the government must take responsibility for this incident.'

Angdembe also mentioned that public dissatisfaction with the government is increasing. He said, 'Recently, intense dissatisfaction has arisen among the citizens towards the government. As a result, horrific incidents like self-immolation have been repeated.'

Angdembe urged all parties to exercise restraint, stating that violence, arson, vandalism, and revenge do not solve any problems. He also demanded that the government conduct an impartial, independent, and transparent investigation into the incident, make the facts public, and take action against the culprits according to the law.

He stated that the security forces should maintain peace and security by adhering to the law and exercising maximum restraint. He also appealed to everyone to seek solutions to problems through dialogue, tolerance, and legal processes, without falling prey to rumors and incitement.
