Karnali Province Chief Minister Calls UML Parliamentary Party Meeting Amidst Political Crisis

Surkhet. Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has called a UML parliamentary party meeting. Kandel has called the parliamentary party meeting for Saturday around 1 PM.

Although the government has been in crisis since Asar 32, Chief Minister Kandel had not called a parliamentary party meeting. Congress-NCP had registered a no-confidence motion against him.

A discussion on the no-confidence motion will be held in the Provincial Assembly today around 3 PM. For that, the provincial assembly has been called for 3 PM. Kandel has called the parliamentary party meeting before the assembly convenes.

A parliamentarian said that the UML parliamentary party meeting is currently underway. Since Congress and NCP have stood against Kandel so far, his government is almost certain to fall.

However, Kandel is still waiting for a decision from the center. Chief Minister is waiting for some decision as Oli and Prachanda are meeting at the center, a source close to him said.

If no decision comes from the center and the NCP maintains its stance, Kandel will either resign from the parliament or lose power through a vote. NCP has 14 seats and Congress has 15 seats. 20 seats are required to form a government in Karnali.
