Nepali Congress Leader Calls for Unity Within Party

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Narayan Prakash Saud has commented that the Nepali Congress cannot become effective and powerful until all factions within the party achieve political unity. He said this while addressing a gathering organized by the establishment- इतर group in Kathmandu on Wednesday on the occasion of BP Smriti Diwas. Leader Saud mentioned that it is the main responsibility of the leadership to emotionally unite both the factions that participated and did not participate in the party's special general convention. He claimed that the leaders and cadres in the establishment- इतर group are not anyone's 'corpses and slaves' but the true hope and trust in the ideology and principles of the Nepali Congress. Discussing the imperative to make the party strong and united to face the existing challenges of the country, he emphasized that the establishment side must take parental role and initiative for this. 'Even though the Election Commission and the court have decided to recognize the special general convention, until we can unite and move forward with the Congress factions that participated and did not participate in the special convention politically, the Nepali Congress cannot face the challenges of the country,' Saud said. 'The Nepali Congress cannot become a strong pivot to face the country's challenges. Keeping this in mind, we are moving forward with the goal of transforming the country's politics through party unity.' He argued that the party's legacy cannot be preserved by sidelining old leaders and cadres who have contributed for a long time in building the party, have faced imprisonment, and struggled. Saud added, 'About 80 percent of the people present here have gone to jail, suffered, worked to build the party, carried the responsibility of the party, and will struggle in the future. Therefore, I want to urge the leaders who went to the leadership through the special general convention as well, the friends present here are not slaves and corpses, they are hope and trust.' Emphasizing the need for unity within the party, he said, 'Until you can move forward with the understanding that victory can only be achieved by correcting yourselves and uniting everyone, the Nepali Congress cannot be established as an effective and strong party.' He stated that the historical role and sacrifice of the Congress in the 2007 revolution, the movement against Panchayat, and the end of the monarchy should not be forgotten. 'The legacy cannot be maintained by sidelining the history and legacy of the Nepali Congress, by sidelining the history of the 7-year revolution, Panchayat, and the overthrow of the king,' Saud said. 'The leaders present here are not just individuals; they all have a history of going to jail, of sacrifice and contribution.' Warning that the Nepali Congress risks being confined to being a historically relevant party if the leadership does not take initiative for party unity with an open heart, he further said, 'Until you can take initiative with an open heart for unity between the faction that did not go to the special convention and the faction that did, there is still a risk that the Nepali Congress will remain a historically relevant party.' He particularly emphasized that the leadership must resolve to bring everyone together to maintain the party's historical dignity and legacy.
