Nepali Congress Leader Purna Bahadur Khadka Warns of Grave National Danger

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Purna Bahadur Khadka has said that the country's nationality is currently in hundreds of times more danger than in 2033 BS. Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 44th death anniversary of public leader BP Koirala, he emphasized the indispensability of unity within the Congress for the protection of nationality, democracy, and the constitution.

Khadka analyzed that the current situation is even more dire compared to the time when BP Koirala and Ganeshman Singh returned to the country with the policy of national reconciliation in 2033 BS. He said, 'The current situation is hundreds of times worse than when BP and Ganeshmanji returned to Nepal saying that the nationality was in danger. Nationality is going through an extremely weak phase.'

Leader Khadka pointed out that as long as the Congress is not strong, there is a risk of increasing chaos in the country and losing achievements. He said that internal conflict and discord within the party are hindering the solution of the national crisis. His demand was to unite the party by adjusting the working committees of the special general convention and the 14th general convention.

Targeting the party leadership, he said, 'It is regression for the president to talk about social democracy by abandoning BP's ideology and democratic socialism at the end of his term. We cannot abandon democratic socialism.' He also accused the party of having dictatorial rule and violating laws and regulations.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of the parliament, he commented that the parliament itself is 'defunct' (ineffective) and the government is being run by Facebook statuses. 'Whether there is a parliament or not, the MPs themselves do not know. No one has information about what is happening,' Khadka said.

He informed that a national gathering of general convention representatives will be organized in Kathmandu at the end of the month of Shrawan to revive the party and avert the national crisis. He urged the party leadership to abandon individualistic character and selfishness and come to dialogue and consensus for the greater good. He also warned that if unity is not achieved, they will be forced to set a new direction.
