Communist Party Coordinator Dahal Calls for Unity Amidst National Sovereignty Risks

Kathmandu. Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that there should be cooperation among the transformative forces to face the risks to the nation’s national independence and the complex political situation. He said this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the Madhesh Province Committee organized in Janakpur on Wednesday.

During the address, Coordinator Dahal stated that it is necessary to move forward by forming a front again with the parties that cooperated from the 12-point understanding, peace agreement, and the establishment of a federal democratic republic through the Constituent Assembly. He mentioned that cooperation with the Nepali Congress, Madhesh-centric parties, and other political forces is the solution to the current challenges. Stating that the question of national independence has reached a very critical and sensitive stage, he clarified that a common understanding among the parties is necessary for its protection.

Coordinator Dahal admitted that there were some shortcomings in the past in expanding the party’s influence and relations in the international arena. He informed that the party has concluded to further strengthen relations with various communist and leftist forces around the world and international initiatives in the coming days.

‘The current extraordinary complex political situation of the country, in which the question of national independence has reached a very critical, sensitive, and risky stage,’ said Coordinator Dahal, ‘to face it, we have discussed the need to move forward by cooperating and forming a front with the political parties that cooperated from the 12-point understanding to the peace agreement and the establishment of a federal democratic republic through the Constituent Assembly.’

Emphasizing the need to increase cooperation with the Congress and Madhesh-centric parties as well as international initiatives, he added, ‘We have realized that we have not been able to expand our influence, organization, and relations in the international arena and cooperate with the communist parties and leftist forces of various countries as much as we should have, and we have moved forward with that as well.’

Discussing the organizational status of the party, he informed that only the Bagmati Province is left for the oath-taking among the geographical provinces. With the completion of the oath-taking ceremony of the Madhesh Province, he expressed confidence that the party’s organizational campaign will gain new momentum.
