Sashastra Prahari Seized Goods Worth NPR 300 Million in FY 2082/83

Kathmandu. Sashastra Prahari Bal Nepal No. 1 Barah Bahini Headquarters Sunsari has stated that it has seized goods worth approximately NPR 300,333,849 in the fiscal year 2082/83 related to smuggling and illegal exports.

According to the Bahini, its subordinate offices have seized various types of illegal goods including clothing and food items and handed them over to the concerned revenue and customs offices.

In the last fiscal year, two pistols, one magazine, four rounds of ammunition, and two country-made guns were seized, and two individuals were arrested and handed over to the relevant bodies for legal action. The Bahini stated that 193 individuals, including 181 men and 12 women, were arrested as part of the anti-narcotics campaign.

From them, approximately 1 kg 123 grams of brown sugar, 10,773 kilograms of marijuana, and narcotics such as Spasmo Proxyvon, Tramadol, Nitravet, Dandex DC, Lupigesic, Phenergan, Nitrogen, Avil, and Diazepam were seized.

During the human trafficking control efforts, one woman and 18 men were arrested, and 23 women, two men, and 13 children were rescued and handed over to the relevant bodies, the Bahini stated.

Similarly, during the control of illegal excavation of riverbed materials, 104 tractors, three tippers, and five JCBs were seized and handed over to the relevant bodies.

During the control of smuggling of wildlife and forest products, one rhinoceros horn, one deer antler, and 2,333 cubic feet of timber of various species were seized. Two individuals involved in this case have also been arrested, the Bahini stated.

Sashastra Prahari has stated that it has conducted public awareness programs in the border areas and also conducted awareness campaigns against drug abuse in schools, clubs, and various groups.
Furthermore, DSP Shailendra Thapa informed that 6,846 fruit and other species of saplings have been planted in various places in Koshi Province.
