Cabinet Approves Agreement with Meter Interest Victims

Kathmandu. The Council of Ministers meeting has approved the agreement reached between meter interest victims and the government side. The Council of Ministers meeting held on Wednesday decided to approve the agreement reached on July 1 between the committee formed to address the demands of citizens affected by unfair transactions (meter interest) and the protesting side.

Minister of Education and government spokesperson Sumit Pokharel said that with this decision, all documents (loan agreements) related to meter interest have become illegal from today.

The Council of Ministers has taken such a decision to implement the understanding reached between the government and the representatives of the movement against meter interest. The government believes that this will bring justice to the meter interest victims and end the exploitation happening on the basis of forged documents.
