Nepali Congress Leader Govinda Bhattarai Emphasizes Party Unity for National Stability

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Govinda Bhattarai has stated that there is no alternative to the party moving forward united in the current situation of the country. Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of BP Smriti Diwas, he pointed out the need for real reconciliation and unity within the party. 

Leader Bhattarai warned that if Congress weakens, the entire system of the country will fall into crisis. "If Congress does not unite, democracy and the constitution will not be saved," he said. 

Recalling the leading role played by Congress in past political crises, he mentioned that Congress had taken the initiative to provide a way out by firmly standing on the side of nationalism during the confusion of constitution making, the country's unrest, the Maoist conflict, and the Madhesh movement. He stated that unity in Congress is indispensable due to these historical responsibilities. 

He emphasized that the desire of the cadres or well-wishers sitting in the hall for unity is not enough, and concrete steps must be taken by the leadership. Bhattarai suggested that the president and Gagan Thapa should create an atmosphere of unity and advance the negotiation process immediately to further strengthen the party.
