Bagmati Province Government Sees Mass Resignation of 6 UML Ministers

Hetauda. Six ministers from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) [CPN (UML)], who were participating in the Bagmati Province government, have resigned collectively today. They attempted to submit their resignations to Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniyan, but as he did not agree to meet them, they submitted their resignation letters at the Chief Minister's office and left. A source close to Baniyan stated that Baniyan had gone to Chitwan for a program on Wednesday. 

The UML ministers who resigned include Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Madhusudan Poudel, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development Dr. Dineshchandra Devkota, and Minister of Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration Bindu Shrestha. Additionally, Ministers without portfolio include Kiran Thapa Magar, Bharat Bahadur KC, and Jayaram Thapa. 

These ministers from the UML were part of the current government formed on 2082 Shrawan 20, in accordance with Article 168, Sub-section 2 of the Constitution. In their resignation letters, they expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Provincial Assembly members, employees, media, and the people of the province for their cooperation throughout their tenure. 

Similarly, the UML has also withdrawn its support to the government. The departure of UML ministers from the government has opened the way for new political equations in Bagmati Province.
