Roads Closed Due to Rain, Landslides

Kathmandu. Due to increased risk of floods and landslides with continuous rain, operation of vehicles has been stopped during night time on BP Highway and Kantilokpath. According to Nepal Police, on the Khurkot-Nepal-Thok-Katunjebesi section of BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok-Sindhuli, due to potential flood risk, all types of vehicles will not be allowed to operate from 6 PM to 4 AM until further notice. Similarly, on Kantilokpath in Makwanpur, due to rain, operation of all types of vehicles has been stopped from 5 PM to 5 AM until further notice, police informed. Meanwhile, various road sections across the country are completely blocked due to landslides and rain. The Mechi Highway at Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, is closed after becoming muddy, while the Arniko Highway at Zero Kilo, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4 and Kodari, Rural Municipality-2, Sindhupalchok is blocked due to landslides. Likewise, Kaligandaki Corridor at Belbager, Jaimini Municipality-8, Baglung, Ranake-Ravi-Bhedetar road at Kopche, Miklajung Rural Municipality-4, Panchthar, and Arughat-Machhikhola road at Liding, Dharche Rural Municipality-7, Gorkha are also blocked due to landslides. Earlier today, a dry landslide at Pangdur, Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Kantilokpath, Lalitpur, completely blocked the road, police informed. Police have urged to get information about the road condition from the concerned bodies before starting the journey.
