Amitabh Bachchan Clarifies Health Status, Denies Surgery and ICU Stay

Mumbai. On Tuesday, Amitabh Bachchan shared a post and wrote, 'In hospital, after a surgery and in ICU, under the care of experienced doctors and medical staff, and discharged from hospital and returned home.'

After this post went public, speculation began that Big B had been discharged from the hospital after surgery. However, he clarified through his new blog that he was neither in the ICU nor had any surgery. He stated that his words were misunderstood.

Clarifying in his new blog, Amitabh wrote, 'I am absolutely fine. My post was misunderstood. I was just giving an example. I meant that the most difficult time is when one returns home after a major surgery or a stay in the ICU and has to face their weakened or damaged state. Similarly, when a champion loses, the hardest battle for them is with their own inner emotions. I was referring to Argentina's loss and Lionel Messi's mental state at that time, who, despite being a champion, had to face defeat. But people assumed I was talking about myself.'

He further wrote, 'People misunderstood. Every champion has to accept that new champions will come with time. It is not easy for any champion to accept that someone else has taken their place. But this is the rule of life and it will always happen.'

Finally, Big B wrote, 'Suppose one has to go to the hospital for treatment of an illness or problem. When one goes to the hospital, the body is in a normal state. After surgery or treatment, the patient recovers, but the most difficult phase is living with the changed body and recovering oneself.'

Mentioning the post-treatment condition, he added, 'After treatment, the body may not be the same as before. Its functioning may change. Accepting this change is not easy. But our body is wonderful. It adapts itself to the circumstances and learns to function again. Perhaps not like before, but it moves forward. The state of mind of a defeated champion is also similar.'

Amitabh Bachchan had written on social media on Tuesday midnight, 'The game is over, but the work continues.'

A little later, he wrote in his blog, 'In hospital, after a surgery and in ICU, under the care of experienced doctors and medical staff, and discharged from hospital and returned home. Earlier in May, there were reports of Amitabh being admitted to the hospital. Journalist Vicky Lalwani claimed on his YouTube channel on May 19 that Amitabh was admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital on May 16.

However, upon inquiry with a source close to the family, it was confirmed that Amitabh had gone to Nanavati Hospital for his monthly routine health check-up on May 16 and returned home immediately.

Amidst the spread of news about his hospital admission, Amitabh made a strange post on his official X account at 12:03 AM on May 20, saying 'Pillori Badumba'.

The 83-year-old Big B's liver is 75 percent damaged, and he is surviving on only 25 percent of his liver. During the shooting of the film 'Coolie', an accident occurred that led doctors to declare him clinically dead.

On July 26, 1982, during the shooting of an action scene for the film 'Coolie', Amitabh was hit by a punch from co-actor Puneet Issar and crashed onto a table. Amitabh himself shot the fight scene, which should have been done by a body double.

Due to the forceful punch, the sharp corner of the table pierced Amitabh's abdomen. Although there was no external bleeding, Amitabh was in unbearable pain. Even after being taken to the hospital, doctors could not identify the exact cause.

After remaining on painkillers for two days, Amitabh's pain did not subside, and he was admitted to St. Philomena's Hospital in Bengaluru. An X-ray revealed gas below the diaphragm, indicating that Amitabh's intestine had ruptured and the infection had spread due to delayed treatment. On the fourth day, senior surgeon H. S. Bhatia advised immediate surgery.

Before the operation, Amitabh had a fever of 102 degrees, and his heart rate reached 180 beats per minute. With his intestine ruptured in such a condition, surviving for even 3-4 hours would have been difficult, yet Amitabh battled that pain for four days.

On the fourth day, he went into a coma. After two operations, he was kept in the hospital for two months.
