Man Found Dead in Burned Car in Kirtipur

Kathmandu. The body of a man found burned inside a car in Kirtipur has been recovered. Police have sent the body for post-mortem at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. 

The car suddenly caught fire at 11:20 AM on Tuesday at Chandani Chowk in Tangalaphant, Kirtipur. 

The driver of the car died in the fire, SSP Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, told Ratopati. The car, BA.5 Cha 3038, which caught fire, was found to have been purchased on installments with a loan from Nabil Bank. 

Although the owner of the car has been identified, SSP Ghimire informed that an investigation is underway to determine if the driver and the owner are the same person. Eyewitnesses say that a white-colored Kia car stopped at Chandani Chowk and initially a small fire was seen erupting from inside the car. After the fire suddenly flared up, the police and locals extinguished the fire using fire extinguishers. Police Circle Kirtipur is investigating the incident.
