Abhijit Dipke Ends Hunger Strike, Other Protesters Follow

New Delhi. Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijit Dipke ended his hunger strike on Monday.

In a video released by news agency ANI, Abhijit Dipke was seen ending his hunger strike.

Abhijit Dipke went on a hunger strike on Saturday after social activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed from Jantar Mantar by Delhi Police and admitted to the hospital. On the other hand, Sonam Wangchuk has written a letter to Safdarjung Hospital seeking permission to participate in the Parliament March.

Earlier, Abhijit Dipke's father Bhagwan Dipke had expressed concern about his son's health in a conversation with BBC Marathi. Bhagwan Dipke had said, 'Abhijit has never gone on a hunger strike before. If he stays hungry for a long time, he starts to get dizzy.'

Meanwhile, at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, three members of the All India Students Association (AISA) - Neha, Amin, and Manish - ended their 23-day hunger strike on Monday. The students decided to break the fast after appeals from various social activists, leaders, and public representatives.

According to AISA, a delegation led by MPs Manoj Jha, Rajaram Singh, and Amararam reached out to the students. In addition, Yogendra Yadav, advocate Prashant Bhushan, Professor Atul Sood, actor Prakash Raj, and actress Shabana Azmi had also appealed to the students to end their hunger strike.

After discussions with the delegation, the students ended their fast. While ending the fast, MP Manoj Jha said that the students' movement has forced the government to respond on many issues.

According to AISA, during the 23-day hunger strike, all three students lost more than 12 percent of their body weight. In addition, their blood sugar levels had also dropped significantly, which had a serious impact on their health.
