CPN UML to Wait for Party Directive on Bagmati Government Resignation

Kathmandu. CPN UML has concluded that it will not resign from the Bagmati government immediately. A meeting of the UML parliamentary party held in Koteshwor, Kathmandu concluded that it will await a clear directive from the party regarding separating from the Bagmati government.

Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forest and Environment of Bagmati Province, Madhusudan Poudel, who participated in the meeting, said that they would not leave the government until a clear directive comes from the party's upper level. He stated that the recent political developments and discussions that have emerged about the ministers' resignations are just rumors and that they will await the party's directive. 

According to Minister Poudel, UML's conclusion is to move forward within the current coalition regarding the Bagmati government. He stated that there is no preparation for UML ministers to resign at this moment. Minister Poudel said that the official decision of the parliamentary party and the party center will be paramount.

"No directive has come from the party's upper body so far. After the directive comes, whatever is said will be done. The resignation news that has appeared in the media is just a rumor and no official decision has come from the party center," he said, "In the meeting attended by party secretary Mahesh Basnet, the party has not sent any decision. No directive has come either. We will not resign at this moment."

He stated that it is not possible to reach a conclusion about the current ruling coalition at this moment. According to him, the alliance with the Nepali Congress is currently intact, and although discussions are ongoing at the upper level about moving forward in a new way, no concrete decision has been made. Regarding the recent criticisms about the responsibilities of the ministries and ministers without portfolio, he said that discussions are ongoing at the upper level and a decision will be made within a day or two.

Minister Poudel said that the party is waiting for the party's directive and will take necessary steps immediately after the directive arrives. For now, he stated that the focus will be on the government's work.

According to CPN UML Parliamentary Party Leader Jagannath Thapaliya, the UML Bagmati parliamentary party meeting concluded that in the changing political situation, the party will move forward through discussions and dialogue with the party center and other parties. He stated that as new situations are arising all the time, no decision has been made about leaving the government immediately. He said that the decision to leave or stay in the government will be made only after discussions with other parties.
